Local Heritage Events

-Starting May 7 – Burnaby Farmers Market to be held in the meadow at Burnaby Village Museum , Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.  Free Admission.

-“McGill turns 10!”  McGill Public Library.  November 5, 2011.  Burnaby Public Library McGill Branch and City of Burnaby Archives are celebrating their 10th Anniversary!

-“Energy Efficiency in Older Homes”.  November 3rd.  This workshop will examine energy consumption in older homes, how to assess their energy performance, and best approaches to improving energy efficiency.  Free public lecture.  RESERVE A LECTURE SEAT.

-“Determining Significance of Heritage Resources”.  UVic Continuing Studies.  November 14-19, 2011.  Find out more about the CRMP Diploma program for people involved with  museums, galleries, heritage agencies, and other cultural  organizations, and a Professional Specialization Certificate in Heritage  Conservation Planning.  Instructor:  Alastair Kerr.

-“Annual Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival “. Kilby Historic Site, November 19 & 20. The Greater Vancouver Zoo will be in the Orchard Shed with their live birds of prey exhibit. “Step into the Wild” with Jody Henderson and the Radical Raptor Birds. Cliff Jury from Wild Birds Unlimited will be speaking on “Bringing Nature and People Together”. Also on site is Christina Anderson from Middle Ground Folk Art and Floral with demonstrations at noon and 2 pm each day.

-“Heritage Planners & Professionals Meeting”.   Shadbolt Centre of the Arts.  November 25, 2011.  The  Heritage Planners & Professionals will hold their annual meeting  November 25 at the Shadbolt Centre of the Arts in Burnaby.

-“Community Heritage Commissions Conference”.  Surrey City Centre Library.  November 26, 2011.  The Surrey Heritage Advisory Committee will host the fourth annual Community Heritage Commissions Conference.

-“Christmas in the Country”. Kilby Historic Site, November 26th & 27th . Kick off the holiday season a little early at Kilby         Historic Site. On site we will have crafts for both adults and kids. Santa will also be making a special appearance, so bring your cameras.
